Overview
Why does the monthly report still get rebuilt by hand, three files and three hours, on the same Thursday night, when the company already pays for Copilot? The licence arrived with an announcement and no training, and half the office is not sure what it may safely paste in.
Day 1 is the chat window: brief Copilot with the RCR Framework (Role, Context, Request) and 5W1H, settle privacy, put uploads, Meta Prompting and Reverse Prompting to work, and build a Personal Prompt Library. Day 2 is the apps: a report in Word, the numbers in Excel, the deck in PowerPoint, then a team challenge that chains all three.
Who should attend
- Office staff in any department who work in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Their managers
- Organisations that hold the paid Microsoft 365 Copilot licence
What you will be able to do
- Brief Copilot Chat with the RCR Framework and 5W1H to get usable answers on real work tasks.
- Decide what can and cannot go into an AI chat, and rework confidential material so the task still gets done.
- Upload files and images, analyse a spreadsheet, generate an image, and save an answer to a Page.
- Improve prompts with Meta Prompting, and use Reverse Prompting when you cannot describe what you need.
- Build a Personal Prompt Library in Word or OneNote covering your five most repeated tasks.
- Turn an email thread and rough notes into a structured report in Word, rewritten one paragraph at a time.
- Analyse a monthly spreadsheet in Excel, and write formula columns from plain English instructions.
- Generate a management deck in PowerPoint from the finished Word report, inside your organisation's template.
- Chain Copilot across Excel, Word and PowerPoint in a team challenge, and present the finished pack.
Course content
Day 1: The conversation, the rules and the library
- Dialogue, the RCR Framework and 5W1H: map your weekly tasks on an Effort and Frequency grid, shortlist the five your prompt library will hold, and build a brief for the first one live in Copilot Chat.
- Privacy and confidentiality: what may go into an AI chat and what may not, what the green shield on a work sign-in protects and the two things it does not, and reworking a task with placeholders and dummy data.
- Advanced Copilot Chat functions: attaching working files and photos, analysing a spreadsheet, generating an image, and comparing a quick answer with a deeper one before saving it to a Page.
- Meta Prompting and Reverse Prompting: repairing a prompt that no longer works, and knowing which method to use in Copilot or any other chatbot.
- Building a Personal Prompt Library: one working prompt for each of the five tasks you shortlisted, kept in a single Word or OneNote document, plus custom instructions, the Prompt Gallery and custom agents.
Day 2: The report, the numbers, the deck and the challenge
- Word, from rough notes to a finished report: briefing Copilot inside Word to turn an email thread and notes into a structured report, rewriting one selected paragraph, and producing the executive summary.
- Excel, analysis and formulas: the one rule that decides whether Copilot works in Excel (a proper table), formula columns from a plain English instruction, and the month's analysis with the chart the deck will carry.
- PowerPoint, from report to management deck: generating the deck from the finished Word report, working inside your organisation's template with the real chart on the slide, and editing one slide at a time.
- End-to-end challenge: in teams, race a month of departmental figures through Excel, Word and PowerPoint, present the pack to the room, and review another team's in return.
How it runs
- Hands-on practice with interactive lectures, live demonstrations and one running case study.
- Bring a laptop signed in to your work account with a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence. No coding is needed.
- The team challenge closes the course, with a presented pack and peer review.
- Delivered in person.
